Atari Coming Back to Life?
0 CommentsPosted by Chris on November 24, 2009 under News
Some of my earliest video game memories include the Atari 2600, and other than Commodore, no other company out there has as much sentimental value to me. While the days of Nolan Bushnell are long gone and the property has bounced around between holding companies for a while, it looks like the Atari brand is coming back with a new tactic. Online games. Their new website includes a bunch of f... more. -
Pandemic gets Quarantined

Looks like EA is at it again. Rumors are floating around that they'll be shutting down Pandemic Studios today, laying off about 200 staff. Pandemic is/was the developer of the upcoming game The Saboteur as well as the Mercenaries and Full Spectrum Warrior series, Star Wars Battlefront and an old favorite, Destroy All Humans. Certainly a shame to see them go and we wish them all luck.... more.

We recently were given an invite into the new game League of Legends from the developer Riot Games. League of Legends is a PC, Windows only, game based on the Defense of the Ancients mod for Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. The guys at Riot are awesome because they are offering the the game as freeware. You can spend a few bucks on a boxed set in the store or grab it online as the "Digital C... more. -

The rumor mill is in full swing about Project Natal with a supposed release date of November 2010. The upcoming XBox motion capture device is supposed to hit the street for under £50 (about $83 USD) and 14 compatible games are being readied to drop at the same time. Could it be Microsoft hoping to keep XBox sales going and cash in on holiday sales next year?... more. -
EA Tells Nintendo How to Run a Business – Layoffs Not Included

Apparently EA isn't just mad at their internal staff. EA's CEO John Riccitiello is cussing out Nintendo and the Wii for lackluster game sales on the platform. Really, who couldn't see Nintendo taking a nosedive at some point? It's kind of like the Foreman Grill, once everyone has one, there's noone left to buy them anymore. I think the Wii has saturated the market and it's novelty factor h... more.

FTC Brings Out the Gimp

Bend over reviewers. It appears the FTC is trying to clean up the blogosphere. They've just come out with requirements that bloggers must disclose any freebies or payments on reviews they do. Be interesting to see what really comes out of this and if they actually make any effort to do something about this or it's just a lot of lip service. Regardless, I wonder how all those game review s... more. -
Gaming with ATI’s Eyefinity

Ah man, I need to change my shorts. I know we're all about the games and generally leave the hardware news to other sites, but you have got to go check out the video technology review done by HardOCP about ATI's new 'Eyefinity' technology they're building into their new 5000 series cards. If the first minute of the video doesn't make you want to run out and buy one of the cards and three mon... more. -
A Little Alpha Love

A while back I mentioned an interesting indie game being developed by a single developer called Love. Well, the game is in now in an extremely early 'alpha' stage. If you're interested, head on over and grab the client. All you can basically do is launch the client and watch the login screens, but since some of the game engine is rendering in the background of the login screens, it will act... more. -

It's amazing the things you find on TV at 4 AM. About a year ago sometime between a P90X infomercial and a New Zoo Revue I found myself poking around the buried menus of my Tivo. After setting up a Wishlist search for "Julia Childs Naked" I stumbled across a plethora of webcasts that are downloadable right from the net to your Tivo with a few presses of the remote. Through my Lunesta and MD ... more. -
Halo 3: ODST – Review

Halo 3: ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers) is a new shooter brought to us by Bungie and MS Game Studios for the XBox 360. The game takes the first foray into the Halo universe without the venerable Master Chief. As opposed to playing the super soldier we've all come to know and love, you take the role of the cliché 'Rookie' in an elite squad of UNSC troopers. The troopers drop into New Momb... more.
