  • Review of Dragon Age: Origins 1 CommentsPosted by Thomas on November 13, 2009 under Reviews, Spotlight
When I first installed Dragon Age: Origins, I don't think I was prepared for the week and a half ahead of me.  Coming out of that time, wearing nothing but a robe covered in Cheeto dust and a pair of sunglasses to protect my eyes from actual sunlight, I can safely say that this is the best RPG that Bioware has written yet. Notice that I didn't say "developed" or "assembled".  There are many g... more.

If you haven't been to Walt Disney World recently, you may not know that the venerable Space Mountain ride has been closed for renovations.  They're updating the 1960s decor to be 1960s decor with the "oh, how quaint!" factor.  But, if that's not enough for you, try out this for size: Passengers will be able to immerse themselves in unique game play as they prepare for blast off, becoming par... more.

Word of mouth has 80 people being laid off from EA Mythic today.  The information started coming out on Friday, and folks officially got the axe today. However, no word out of EA headquarters on what this means.  Our insiders tell us that EA corporate may be laying off up to 1000 people worldwide, and that the Mythic properties themselves are going into "maintenance mode".  Seeing as most of... more.
  • Don’t Wait for Diablo 3, Buy Torchlight Now 5 CommentsPosted by Thomas on October 29, 2009 under Reviews, Spotlight
When people compare Torchlight to the Diablo series, it's going to be hard to argue with them. This is Diablo -- only with steampunk, guns, and a little more cartoon than you may be used to. If you're like me, and somewhere in the recent past, you reinstalled Diablo 2 after hearing about the high resolution home-brew patch that was out there, than this is the game for you. I spent a few good ... more.

The Themis Group is that quiet company behind such web properties as Warcry and The Escapist.  They're a company that not only specializes in game journalism, but they've ended up becoming such authorities in the field, that they're contracted by massive multiplayer online companies to help with customer service and project management. • Old School TBS: Military Madness: Nectaris on the Xbox 0 CommentsPosted by Thomas on October 22, 2009 under Reviews, Spotlight
Turn Based Strategy games on the Xbox 360, or really any console, have to fight an uphill battle of expectation and environment: Users have an expectation of an arcade experience from a console because that's what they've been spoon-fed over the years; and they're commonly playing these games in their living room or their game room, a place not known these days for quiet introspection or a long t... more.
