Batman: Arkham Asylum, The Review
5 CommentsPosted by CaptainRoy on November 30, 2009 under Reviews, Spotlight
Batman doesn't kill people. Batman's enemies certainly find murder enjoyable, though, something immediately obvious in exploring the unsettling environs of Arkham Island in Batman: Arkham Asylum (hereafter referred to as Batman:AA) for the Xbox 360. Batman:AA isn't a particularly original game. Rather, it's a very polished game with a nice mix of styles, taking gameplay cues from several other ... more. -
Review of Dragon Age: Origins

When I first installed Dragon Age: Origins, I don't think I was prepared for the week and a half ahead of me. Coming out of that time, wearing nothing but a robe covered in Cheeto dust and a pair of sunglasses to protect my eyes from actual sunlight, I can safely say that this is the best RPG that Bioware has written yet. Notice that I didn't say "developed" or "assembled". There are many g... more. -
League of Legends Review

We recently were given an invite into the new game League of Legends from the developer Riot Games. League of Legends is a PC, Windows only, game based on the Defense of the Ancients mod for Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. The guys at Riot are awesome because they are offering the the game as freeware. You can spend a few bucks on a boxed set in the store or grab it online as the "Digital C... more. -
Trine Review

Trine is a game that could fall in under several categories, including action, adventure, platformer, strategy and puzzle. Trine is like a classic game with a shiny new face. From the very start, the game's intro sucks you in and makes you feel like you are about to embark on an epic journey. Developed by Frozenbyte, Trine has received excellent review scores across the board, as well as several e... more. -
Don’t Wait for Diablo 3, Buy Torchlight Now

When people compare Torchlight to the Diablo series, it's going to be hard to argue with them. This is Diablo -- only with steampunk, guns, and a little more cartoon than you may be used to. If you're like me, and somewhere in the recent past, you reinstalled Diablo 2 after hearing about the high resolution home-brew patch that was out there, than this is the game for you. I spent a few good ... more. -
Slingo Mystery Review

Every time I hear about Slingo making an appearance in another game, I get a little excited. I keep hoping the magic formula will appear and turn a Slingo game into the greatest thing since sliced bread. And I'm continuously disappointed. On the surface, mixing slots and bingo is a magic combination for me! I love both so much. But for some reason, when you actually sit down and play the game, it ... more.

Little Shop – World Traveler Review

There are many ways a hidden object game can be great. It can have the most amazing and compelling story. The Hidden Object portion can be stellar. There can be mini-games that just entertain for hours. Or it can be an average game that drives you to unlock every portion the game has to offer. Little Shop - World Traveler is just that. It manages a level of replayability that I've yet seen in a hi... more.

Old School TBS: Military Madness: Nectaris on the Xbox

Turn Based Strategy games on the Xbox 360, or really any console, have to fight an uphill battle of expectation and environment: Users have an expectation of an arcade experience from a console because that's what they've been spoon-fed over the years; and they're commonly playing these games in their living room or their game room, a place not known these days for quiet introspection or a long t... more. -
Hello, El Presidente! A Review of Tropico 3

Tropico 3 is a testament to the stability of a franchise. Not only does it compound the good decisions made by the developers in the early days, but it adds flavor that could only come from a fully rendered 3D atmosphere. During game play, I'm most often reminded of Railroad Tycoon 3. The overall complexity of the game is masked behind levels of detail. You can choose to be the best ruler f... more. -
