Kmart is a retail chain from America specializing in general merchandise primarily founded in 1897 by Sebastian S. Kresge. In the early 20th century the company operated 2,200 Kmart stores in the USA. In 2002 Kmart declared bankruptcy because of growing competition e.g Wal-Mart. Despite the difficulties, Kmart survived bankruptcy and reorganized company was purchased in 2005 by Sears, Roebuck and Company for some $12 billion.
